Mario Gómez García, born 10 July 1985, is a German footballer who plays as a striker for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and the German national team.
General comments
He is an athlete, his impressive build and his sense of goal allow him to channel good performance, but this season is marred by a long injury between August and November 2012.
Performance
Regularity
Very regular player whose goal ratio is 0.6/games played since his beginnings in Bundesliga with Stuttgart.
Form
He was injured during the first part of the season. Despite the dazzling start of his substitute Mandzukic, he gradually returns to his place in the Bayern squad with 6 goals in 12 games.
Offensive skills
Finish
He is a fox with power to the image of a VanNistelrooy. Often well placed, he eludes the keepers striking in force at close range.
Heading ability
He also has a very good head game thanks to his size.
Long range striking
He has good bases in this area, although most of his goals are enshrined in the box.
Dribble
He is not very creative and doesn't have big technical skills, however, he crochets well when launched and manages to eliminate his opponent.
Call for the ball
His asks for the ball are very intelligent, he is always ideally positioned to receive the ball in ideal situation.
Pass
Like any striker, he systematically seeks to shoot, the passing game is not his main characteristic.

Level of experience greatly increased since 2011 with particular performance of Bayern in the Champions League. He also participated in the beautiful German competition during the Euro 2012 (3 goals and an assist).

Speed
Even launched Gomez is not a fast player and will probably never be.
Acceleration
He is a heavy player (1m89 for 84 kg) which explains this bad mark acceleration.
Physical impact
He compensates for his lack of quickness and speed through an important physical presence. He is very stable and often takes precedence over his opponents in physical duels.

Fragility
Although he seems sturdy he often suffers from muscle injuries, he is a quite fragile player.
